Made in the Now is a fantastic project from the Brisbane creatives at Josephmark. The project is a pressure test for designers to create a t-shirt design around each day’s chosen news story. The daily designer receives the brief at 9am and must have their design completed an uploaded by 1pm. The design then goes on sale for 24 hours only from 2pm that day.
During April 2012, I was one of the daily designers and it was a great test of concept creation, stress and relying on my gut instinct all rolled into the one experience.
My design is based on the news story of a pilot who had mistaken the planet Venus for an oncoming plane and plummeted the plane downwards. The pilot was found to have overslept during his in-flight nap and this apparently clouded his judgement. The sleeping ZZZ’s are made up of tiny little planes diving downwards and representing the sudden movement as the pilot swerved to miss the apparent oncoming planet attack.
